What is Upper Cervical

What to Expect

How is Upper Cervical Different?

“We focus on the top two vertebrae. That area is the bottom of the brain and the top of the spinal cord. At that junction station between those areas is the brain stem, the fuse box for everything that goes on in the nervous system. Things that are happening in the brain, in all parts of your body, all the way to your feet are happening or originating from this area right through there. We adjust that area to remove nerve interference so the body can then facilitate the healing process that it has already known how to do because that’s how God designed us.”

In simplest terms, the treatment is so gentle and painless that even babies who receive adjustments don’t move, whimper or cry. There’s no popping, twisting or cracking. An upper cervical adjustment targets the bottom of the brain, the brain stem. This is the “fuse box” for everything that goes on in the nervous system. That’s why the most common remark made by patients after their first adjustment is, “You just barely touched my neck and I can’t believe how much better I feel all over. The muscles relax all the way down the spine.”  When you come to Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Tulsa, you too will be astounded that something so gentle should have such profound results.

And yes, the results are profound. Read the testimonials to see how relief from such serious health issues as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, sciatica, migraines, reflux, allergies, back pain, and others can be obtained – and all without prescription and over-the-counter medication.

Two Phases of Care

The restoration phase is for establishing stabilization, and generally lasts three months, depending on various factors in a patient’s condition. “Stabilization is the most intensive, costs the most and requires the most visits,” Dr. Opal said.

Once stabilized, the patient goes into wellness care for maintenance. Visits can be as few as once a month, every other month, six weeks, three, even one week – “whatever they choose,” she said. “You can always have stress – chemical, physical, and emotional – that can move your body back into a subluxated state. Ongoing care just makes sense.” But she added that members can quit whenever they want and go as long as they want benefit from the care.

“If someone asks for a recommendation, I’ll give it, but I also tell them that ultimately, they should listen to what God’s telling them, and what they feel comfortable with in terms of their lifestyle, and how to manage their case after they get out of restoration care. Upper Cervical is a way of life for me, my husband and our kids. It gave us our health back.”

A Culture of Hope, Joy, Love, and Peace

Welcome to UCCT, where your experience begins with excellent patient care, and where getting you better is our goal and our heart. We treat you as the whole person you are and as a member of our practice, not a patient. A cornerstone of our belief is that healing is best achieved in the context of relationship, and that caring and building great relationships is the right way to run a business. Add to those key elements an atmosphere of hope, joy, love and peace, and you're going to feel at home.

Hope

Hope is a rainbow appearing like a promise that all will be well. And by God’s grace, it will.

“I lost complete hope of ever being able to heal—it’s the worst, the emptiest feeling you can ever have. To think that you’re never going to get better.” But everything changed for Laurie when she began a healing diet of natural foods and supplements in tandem with Upper Cervical chiropractic. Her life rebounded, and now Laurie goes dancing every chance she gets, works in her garden, and plays with her grandkids. Hope lost, hope regained.

Joy

Joy is Jesus in the boat with you, unfazed by storms. Joy is the heart’s North Star, fixed and sure. Joy is the cup brimming with all the bright things that delight you.

“Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” These words from the Bible (Nehemiah 8:10) live in Dr. Opal’s heart. Her trust in “a God who never fails” leads her to an optimistic view of life and health, and her joy is highly contagious! Besides nutritional healing, chiropractic offers emotional healing too, setting you free from worry, depression, fear, and other inner toxins. As Dr. Opal says, “It’s time to trade in the spirit of heaviness for the joy of the Lord!”

Love

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
1 Cor 13:7-8.

“I was in such pain and had lost so much hope. Dr. Opal just loved on me and held my hand and said, ‘I don’t know how this will turn out but I will walk with you in it.” That compassionate touch was the beginning of Laurie’s transformation from years of debilitating illness to renewed health and a flourishing life.

Members feel loved on every visit. Holly says, “I love Dr. Opal and the staff. They treat everyone like family and are always very kind and caring.” And Jeff describes his experience with these words: “Authentic, genuine, relational connection and care.”

Peace

Peace hushes the worry in your soul and softly takes a seat.

Everyone feels it when they come for their appointment.

“I felt calm when I walked in. All my nerves completely disappeared. It was amazing, especially after all the doctors I’d seen and how cold they were and how nervous I felt because of all the medical trauma I’d had.” Rebecca said she knew the peace she experienced at UCCT was God’s way of telling her, “You are in the right place.”

Amber, like so many other members, feels it too: “From the moment I first walked in, I felt calm, welcomed, and at peace.” What can account for such calm tranquility? Could it be the doctors’ prayers for those who come for care and Dr. Opal’s early arrival each morning to cover the office, staff and clients with prayer?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are three steps to getting started as a new member. The total cost of this three-part appointment is up to $149.

  • Our doctors begin seeing babies as young as a few hours old. Birth is the 1st major trauma to the spine as approximately 80% of infants experience cervical spine injuries during the birthing process, regardless of the birthing method. Even a normal, uncomplicated delivery can put forces on an infant’s spine that can lead to a subluxation.

When your body is functioning at its best, it provides the best chance for a developing baby to be as healthy as possible. For example, the nervous system controls and coordinates the travel of nutrients to your baby in uterine, if the nervous system is not able to fully communicate throughout your body this may affect the development of your baby.

  • We do not accept 3rd party insurance of any kind. We accept personal injury cases who are willing to pay out of pocket for 100% of care, bill their own insurance, and receive reimbursement directly. We will provide all forms necessary to bill 3rd party insurance at the end of care.

  • There are a series of examinations we perform before and after a correction is given. We expect to see changes immediately following a correction, which we usually see on the cervical x-ray taken directly following your 1st adjustment. This cost of this x-ray is included in your care plan. Most of our patients report feeling both immediate and delayed changes. The correction uses a very light tap with an upper cervical specific instrument. You shouldn’t expect to feel any pain from the correction procedure itself, however, the body is making many changes and you may feel sore for a period of time. The soreness results from your postural muscles working to hold every correction being given and can be felt anywhere along the spinal structure.
