Functional Bodywork

What I do is very gentle but it brings on large and wonderful results.”

Meet Rebecca Hawthorne, our Craniosacral and Functional Bodywork therapist. Rebecca explains, there are two different lines of work that separately can bring healing to the body but when paired together they effect an overall healing that is profound. Rebecca says “the work I do is kind of a mash-up of different modalities with profound outcomes.”   Functional bodywork involves gentle manipulations that target the lymphatic system, fascia (connective tissue), organs, structural body and bones. Craniosacral therapy targets the head, spinal cord and tailbone.

Rebecca says, “I’m passionate about what I do because I see the difference it makes. It’s helping people who feel that there’s no hope left. I am so excited to go on this healing journey with Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Tulsa (UCCT) Members. Working together we can bring you a higher level of healing and a broader understanding of the human body.” 

At your first appointment, Rebecca watches how you walk, which reveals a lot of what’s going on, and she tests all parts of the body, then customizes treatment based on the person’s background, symptoms and dysfunction. As one example, a gentleman she helped was a UCCT member who’d been undergoing upper cervical care for low mobility and lower back pain, “He started getting better but hit a plateau. So he made an appointment with me.” After nearly two months of treatment, his mobility improved so much “that now he jumps off the table whereas before he could barely get onto it.

One minute Rebecca may be found working with a member on “Bodyworks for pregnancy” and then helping another member resolve “how tension in their sacrum can affect leg pain.” Ask for Rebecca if you have an ache and want to fast track your healing process.
