Power In Progress

It was time for a progress meeting with one of the members this past week. We meet every 2-3 months and plan goals for their health. He has suffered a great personal loss during this pandemic. As soon as I asked the question, I saw the struggle in his face. I started to tear up as I saw him try to find the words to tell me that he is having a challenge doing his normal routines, and he has let go of many healthy habits that he enjoys. I said, “It’s okay.” He said, “Yes, but I expected better of myself.” We held hands and prayed for a moment. There are challenges that we walk through that leave us just barely able to keep our heads above water. We all go through them, but they often take the wind out of our sails. Any momentum we had is lost in the process of grief and loss. Understandably it takes time to mourn, grieve, and find our footing once again. These challenges can make us turn away from God or turn towards Him. We have to lean on Him through our questions of why and what-if’s. Don’t expect yourself to keep up your habits, to hit your goals, or to be the same as you were before this happened. Expect that you will be better, softer, and have more empathy for others than we thought possible! He decided on doing just one goal for the next few months, and that is progress! Woo hoo!! Love you💕
