A Little Bit Of History

I was listening to a podcast about heavy metals, and they went over the history of our exposure to heavy metals. It was fascinating to hear about the history of mercury. Back in the 1800’s, mercury was touted as a cure for all sorts of conditions. Except for the fact that it literally drove people insane, and killed so many others. This article goes over some of the history of mercury. https://www.thestar.com/news/insight/2017/10/22/mercury-was-considered-a-cure-until-it-killed-you.html It is from the book called, Quackery. I found that funny as I have been called everything from a witch doctor, a quack, a voodoo doctor, and more. Name calling in any profession is no different than being a bully on a playground. Quackery started with the treatment of mercury, and not in Chiropractic circles. It makes no difference, as the professionals of the day were people who were trying to help, but did harm instead. Doctors no matter the profession want to help others. Some may be misguided, some may miss the mark, and some of them may not be good people. I truly believe that they all really want to help people. That is why they went into their profession, no matter if they are MD, DC, DO, ND, PT, or anyone else. Since working as a Chiropractor, I have done presentations with MD’s, DO’s, PT’s, DC’s, ND’s, massage therapist, athletic trainers, OBGYN’s, and others. I did this in an effort to bring us together in our common goal to help others live healthier lives. I  have been met with open arms, judgement, curiosity, intrigue, and even ridicule. I have had doctors who have told their patient’s never to come and visit me, before they even knew what I did. They judged me based upon my degree, instead of the application of my technique or my care plan. I have called them out on it, sent letters to them, and tried to get them to return my phone calls. The bottom line is that we all encounter judgement in our lives, from people who don’t know us. It never feels right or feels good, but it happens. No matter what practitioner you go to, my hope is that you go where God leads you. That you are not led by your past beliefs, judgements of others, or even your past experiences. God can lead you to any practitioner to provide your healing. Step out of your comfort zone, and be willing to go against the grain! God has you, so step out in Faith! Woo Hoo!! Love you💕
